Chadian

Posted by: Alpha ThessaLika R.M.B.B ( F1021131090)

Here I am back again ! Well after posted about Saharan I'll move to Chad. In their story chad is being one of the poorest countries, though they lack of local grains but they used widely what they had. Here one of popular dishes and drinks that enjoyed by tourist.

Chilli Bream

Chad is noted for its freshwater fishing industry, and the waters of both its large lake and broad rivers are prolific. Among the fish caught here are Nile perch and pike, large carp, tilapia, bass and bream. This food, the fish is not scaled, as the scales protect the tender, delicate flesh from burning in the fierce heat of the barbecue.

Karkanji

Karkanji or known as hibiscus tea, may be all of you think that is it true that canadian made a drink from hibiscus ? yes its true, we usually know that hibiscus is just a flower that we plant it in front of our house or our garden. But Chadian make it into a special tea, karkanji can be made entirely from plants grown in Chad. Karkanji not only made by hibiscus flower itself but also fresh ginger, cinnamon, cloves and honey. Karkanji is also known as a refreshing tea by Chadian not only refreshing but also its good for people who get caught by cold or flu. Well, we get another thing from another country again to beat the cold and flu without taking any medicine and just let say bye bye cold and flu then. Lol.

Malinese

Uray Ryan H (F1021131076)

Hi everybody, welcome back this is my second post about african food especially Mali.
Malinese cuisine consists mainly of millet, corn, or rice porridges served with a variety of "sauces." The sauces made by peanut, baobab leaves, okra, or sweet potato leaves. meat and vegetables also added to the sauces.

I want to tell you about CousCous the North African steamed pasta gains.
source : http://www.whats4eats.com/content/pastas-couscous-image
This pasta is commonly served in the region of Northwest Africa known as the Maghreb. In Maghreb cooking, couscous is cooks in the top of a pot known as a couscousière. The bottom part holds a stew, whose simmering vapors steam and flavor the couscous. Couscous looks like a small grain, but is atill a type of semolina pasta. Variations are found in Spain, Sicily, the Middle East and even Brazil. In one type—Israeli couscous—grains are about the size of a small pea. Couscous had some other names like keskesu, kuskus, kisksu and etc.

Saharan

by: Alpha Thessa Lika R. M. B. B. (F1021131090)

Not many people could describe many things about the cultures that exist in the Sahara desert. Being the largest sand desert in the world, the Sahara is known for its scarce population of nomadic tribes. Its dry and arid weather can not support population size similar to that of wet and fertile regions. Stretching from the eastern side of Africa to the west, the great desert is part of many African countries such as Egypt, Algeria, Sudan, and Tunisia. Despite being unlikely a place suitable for life, the Sahara is home to many cultures that are perhaps unique to many people who live far from the place. These various cultures have their own unique cuisines, which one of them are going to be described here.

Lamb Shank

Crops hardly grow on the dry terrains of Sahara, even at its most fertile areas such as oases and river sides. Inhabitants of Sahara, having no access to lands to cultivate, instead recede to animal husbandry and hunting in order to get food. Lamb shank refers to meat from lambs' legs that are cooked with spices. This food is common among people who leave in north Saharan countries such as Algeria, Tunisia and Libya.

Jennifer / Wikipedia Commons
Lamb Shank, a common dish in Saharan countries.

Being harsh and extremely dry, people who live at Sahara desert do not have any particular beverages other than fresh water that is often stored in goat skin sacks and mint tea which leaves are usually available in local markets where people of the desert would stop and trade for supplies.
