Talks about food, there is something was missing if we wouldn't discuss the country which have varies greatly by region and has many different influences about food.
Some popular Indonesian dishes such as nasi goreng, gado-gado, sate and soto are ubiquitous in the country and considered as Indonesian national dishes.
Because of diversity of Indonesian food, i would like to choose the unique one.

Food

Bakso or baso is Indonesian meatball or meat paste made from beef surimi, however bakso can also be made from other ingredients, such as chicken, fish, or shrimp. Today various types of ready to cook bakso also available as frozen food commonly sold in supermarkets in Indonesia. Slices of bakso often used and mixed as compliments in mi goreng, nasi goreng, or cap cay recipes.

Bakso always be a favorite food when international public figures come to Indonesia. One of them is Barack Obama, he said "Thanks for bakso, nasi goreng, emping, kerupuk, semuanya enak." after a dinner at the State Palace on Tuesday evening, November 9, 2010.
In the other side, bakso comes with unique served which is don't exist in other countries.
For example, it served with
approaching potential buyers through residential areas whilst announcing their presence, or stationing themselves on a packed and busy street side, setting simple seating under a small tent and waiting for customers.

This is called "Pedagang Kaki Lima a.k.a PKL"

Drink

A traditional drink from Indonesia also the popular one in Indonesia is es cendol. The dessert's basic ingredients are coconut milk, jelly noodles made from rice flour with green food coloring (usually derived from the pandan leaf), shaved ice and palm sugar. Other ingredients such as red beans, glutinous rice, grass jelly, creamed corn, might also be included.

Today, iced cendol served with durian flesh and chocolate condensed milk is popular in Indonesia. Cendol also seems like es dawet ayu from Central Java.

Japanese

Posted by : Rio Pratama (F1021131075)

And now reader, we would like to go to Japan or known as Nippon. The country which have many cultures and histories. The pronunciation Nippon is more formal, and is in Japanese used for most official purposes, including international sporting events.
Japan also known the country of Land of the Rising Sun. Japanese cuisine is known for its emphasis on seasonality of food quality of ingredients and presentation. Most of all program TV in Japan airing about food.
Because of the unique food from japan is too much, i would like give you an example the best one.

Food

Onigiri

Onigiri also known as o-musubi, nigirimeshi, or rice ball, is a Japanese food made from white rice formed into triangular or oval shapes and often wrapped in nori (seaweed).

 Source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Onigiri.jpg

The type of rice that used for making this onigiri is ordinary Japanese rice, or uruchima. When cooked it has a somewhat sticky texture such that it can easily be picked up and eaten with chopsticks. Outside of Japan it is sometimes labeled as sushi rice, as this is one of its common uses.
Traditionally, an onigiri is filled with pickled ume (umeboshi), salted salmon, katsuobushi, kombu, tarako, or any other salty or sour ingredient as a natural preservative. Because of the popularity of onigiri in Japan, most convenience stores stock their onigiri with various fillings and flavors. There are even specialized shops which only sell onigiri to take out.

 Source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Onigiri_at_a_convenience_store_by_typester_in_Kamakura.jpg

At glance, onigiri seems like ketupat which popular in Indonesia during Islamic tradition lebaran (Eid ul-Fitr). The differential between onigiri and ketupat is the method of cooking, packing, and preserving. Onigiri often wrapped in nori (seaweed) and ketupat wrapped with coconut leaves.

Drink

As far as I know, typical beverage from Japan is Sake. Sake is an alcoholic beverage of Japanese origin that is made from fermented rice. I wouldn't to discuss that the inappropriate one, and i would like to discuss the healthy one instead.
Japanese green tea also known as ocha. Ocha contains a variety of enzymes, amino acids, carbohydrates, lipids, sterols, related compounds, phytochemicals, and dietary minerals.

Source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sencha.jpg

Types of tea are commonly graded depending on the quality and the parts of the plant used as well as how they are processed. The first and second flushes of green tea made from leaves that are exposed directly to sunlight. This is the most common green tea in Japan.
The picture below could explain the process of steaming time and tea characteristics

That's all from me, keep live healthy for a better life.

Chadian

Posted by: Alpha ThessaLika R.M.B.B ( F1021131090)

Here I am back again ! Well after posted about Saharan I'll move to Chad. In their story chad is being one of the poorest countries, though they lack of local grains but they used widely what they had. Here one of popular dishes and drinks that enjoyed by tourist.

Chilli Bream

Chad is noted for its freshwater fishing industry, and the waters of both its large lake and broad rivers are prolific. Among the fish caught here are Nile perch and pike, large carp, tilapia, bass and bream. This food, the fish is not scaled, as the scales protect the tender, delicate flesh from burning in the fierce heat of the barbecue.

Karkanji

Karkanji or known as hibiscus tea, may be all of you think that is it true that canadian made a drink from hibiscus ? yes its true, we usually know that hibiscus is just a flower that we plant it in front of our house or our garden. But Chadian make it into a special tea, karkanji can be made entirely from plants grown in Chad. Karkanji not only made by hibiscus flower itself but also fresh ginger, cinnamon, cloves and honey. Karkanji is also known as a refreshing tea by Chadian not only refreshing but also its good for people who get caught by cold or flu. Well, we get another thing from another country again to beat the cold and flu without taking any medicine and just let say bye bye cold and flu then. Lol.

Malinese

Uray Ryan H (F1021131076)

Hi everybody, welcome back this is my second post about african food especially Mali.
Malinese cuisine consists mainly of millet, corn, or rice porridges served with a variety of "sauces." The sauces made by peanut, baobab leaves, okra, or sweet potato leaves. meat and vegetables also added to the sauces.

I want to tell you about CousCous the North African steamed pasta gains.
source : http://www.whats4eats.com/content/pastas-couscous-image
This pasta is commonly served in the region of Northwest Africa known as the Maghreb. In Maghreb cooking, couscous is cooks in the top of a pot known as a couscousière. The bottom part holds a stew, whose simmering vapors steam and flavor the couscous. Couscous looks like a small grain, but is atill a type of semolina pasta. Variations are found in Spain, Sicily, the Middle East and even Brazil. In one type—Israeli couscous—grains are about the size of a small pea. Couscous had some other names like keskesu, kuskus, kisksu and etc.
